This Episode: D&D Next, Mechanical Short Comings, Etymology Lessons, Norman Rockwell
Tim and Chrispy sit down to take a more critical look at the second to last D&D playtest pack from last December. They also talk a bit about some of their personal projects and talk a bit about a new favorite game: Cards Against Humanity.
This Episode Also Known As: The Trochee-Filled Misadventures of Tim Jenkins
A Quick Note: This episode gets slightly more vulgar than previous episodes. If you tend to listen with children around and don’t want to expose them to vulgar language/themes, you might want to not listen to this one while they’re around.

Clearly, its the bed that is riding you.
Good podcast guys, I’ve just discovered it while looking for DnD Next info.
I played D&D so long ago that I didn’t even know we were mixing Basic with AD&D (1e, because there was no 2e). Came back to it recently, introducing my kids to it, and I’ve been been trying to figure out all the edition mess. I run a 1e/2e mix for them, but I’ve liked what I see in DnD Next. Yeah, I didn’t play for decades, now I’m a registered play tester, sue me.
Anyway, I agree totally about the skill dice. I don’t mind skills as a general concept, but hate them when they suggest that only those with the skill can even make an attempt at something. What do you think of replacing skill dice with the advantage system? That is, instead of adding skill dice to the relevant ability check, you roll 2 d20s, and add your standard ability modifier to the best roll.
Just a thought, like to hear what much more experienced DMs think. Keep up the great work.
