The tabletop RPG genre is a big marketplace full of many diverse games; each with a unique approach to what is ostensibly Pretend for Adults. For 40 years Dungeons and Dragons has been one of the biggest and most popular choices available. In this episode Tim and Chrispy sit down and analyze what draws them to roleplaying games as opposed to other, more passive forms of entertainment and what things D&D in particular does right to keep them coming back again and again.

Really looking forward to hearing your thoughts. Your show on D&D next gave a very detailed and fair analysis of the playtest materials. (though there may have been more than a little bit too much silliness. I love the show, so I’m just saying).
This episode is a lot more serious in tone. It’s definitely more focused and probably the closest to what I originally wanted Critical Wits to be when we were first starting out and deciding to do the show.
Fun Fact: We record episodes in person. Which is why we have such high energy level compared to a lot of other podcasts. This episode and (the seemingly much disliked) Episode 10 were actually recorded back to back. Which probably accounts for the lower energy level in this episode.
A new episode has come huzzah! like the show, if you decided to talk more about the “Sky World” campaign setting of yours I’ll definitely listen.
I’m glad you enjoyed that episode! We started a new game recently, which we will probably talk about on the show coming up soon, but I think we can probably work something out to play a game in that world! You actually got me considering trying to rectify the new campaign as part of Sky World, so we’ll see what happens!
Our ultimate plan is to write the setting up and put it on the market, but we haven’t really taken a ton of steps towards that.
Go for it, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of cute(in that Miyazaki kind of way) and whimsical campaign settings out their; I’d definitely download Sky World illegally.
